WILLIAM “WILLIE EARL” MITCHELL (Late 20s-Early 30s)
A sharp, guarded, and ambitious businessman from Washington D.C., William has long distanced himself from his chaotic childhood and his mother’s past mistakes. Returning to Lafayette for his grandmother Odessa’s funeral, he’s forced to confront old trauma, family secrets, and a community he once loved.
TERESA MITCHELL (Late 40s - Early 50s)
William’s estranged mother. Once a struggling addict, now six years sober, Teresa has dedicated herself to managing the cabaret and honoring Odessa’s legacy. Deeply flawed but fiercely loving, she’s desperate to repair her relationship with her son, even as the past threatens to unravel her progress.
ALIYAH MCCRARY-MITCHELL (30s)
William’s wife. Intelligent, nurturing, and quietly determined. A successful professional with a traumatic past of her own, Aliyah serves as the bridge between William and his roots.
NAY (20s)
A vibrant, soulful singer and hostess at the cabaret. Once taken in by Teresa and Odessa during a crisis, Nay is the emotional glue of the community. Talented and full of heart.
CLYDE (30s)
The smooth-talking bartender and resident flirt. Younger brother to Miller, Clyde masks his deeper feelings for Nay with humor and charm. Loyal and street-smart, he’s a protector at heart.
MILLER (40s)
The no-nonsense cook and elder brother to Clyde. Sarcastic, wise, and big-hearted, Miller is Odessa’s adopted son in spirit. He often acts as the moral compass of the group.

Mr. Rufus Martell (57) – Protagonist / Retired Lawyer
A witty, old-school widower with a sharp tongue and a big heart. Though grieving his late wife, he remains the anchor of the family—whether he wants to be or not.
Renee Martell (35) – Eldest Daughter / Boutique Owner
Smart, strong, and no-nonsense. Renee is the family’s unofficial matriarch-in-training, but personal heartbreak threatens to crack her perfect exterior.
Robert Martell (40) – Eldest Son / Entrepreneur
Charming and carefree, Robert is a natural showman with a troubled secret. His weed business may be booming, but so are his unpaid debts.
Shuntay Martell (30) – Pierre’s Wife / Teacher
Loving, calm, and the family’s voice of reason. Though she plays peacemaker, her marriage is quietly falling apart behind her gentle smile.
Pierre Martell (28) – Youngest Son / Lawyer-Turned-Med Student
Level-headed and reliable, Pierre is the glue between siblings. Beneath his cool surface, he’s silently battling career pressure, marital woes, and a recent diagnosis.
